What's on in Blyth: events through to Christmas 2026
People who haven't visited lately still picture Blyth as a quiet port town. The reality: Blyth Celebrates, the town's free festival programme, pulled in more than 90,000 visitors last year, and the 2026 edition runs right through autumn and into Christmas — parades, fire gardens, vintage fairs and pop-up cinema, most of it free and most of it in and around the Market Place. If you're staying in town for work this autumn, you've picked a good season.
Late August: the launch weekend
The autumn programme kicks off on 22 August with family workshops at the Market Pavilion — the new venue that's been quietly turning the Market Place into Blyth's living room, complete with a pop-up cinema that's already hosted a town-wide festival of film. Expect the launch weekend to set the tone: free, family-friendly and right in the centre.
September: Vintage Blyth
September brings Vintage Blyth and live storytelling trails through the town — a gentler month, good for weekend wandering between the Market Place and the beach. If you've not done the seafront yet, our guide to Blyth Beach covers the painted huts, the pier and where the fish and chips are.
October: Halloween, properly done
October is the big one. Blyth Halloween: Trick or Treat mixes classic Halloween with the colour and tradition of the Day of the Dead, building through a week of activities to a community parade around the Market Place — costumes, music and a town centre full of families. It's the kind of event that tells you a lot about where Blyth is heading.
November: fire in Ridley Park
In November the Earth, Wind & Fire Garden lights up Ridley Park — sculpture, sound, water and flame after dark in the town's Victorian park. The Christmas tree lights switch-on follows on Saturday 22 November, running through the day and into the evening.
December: Christmas in Blyth
